Stoke Lane won their First game in Div 2, beating Shadwell Rovers 3-1. Stoke Lane opened the scoring with a 25 yard strike by Ashley Harrington. Dave Stephens in goal for Stoke lane made a good save before Shadwell drew level just before half time from a free Kick just outside the box which went in off the underside of the crossbar.
Early in the second half Liam Dixon got injured after he was hurt from a last ditch tackle when he burst through the shadwell defence following a swift passing move turning defence into attack. Ashley lloyd came on to replace the injured Liam Dixon and was soon on the score sheet when from 30 yards he shot pass the advancing Shadwell Keeper.
Russ Payne made the game safe in this close contest when he struck a fearsome free kick which took a deflection off of the head of a shadwell defender.
Next game is away to Ai Sports on the 12 September
